Me Pierre Hamel has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1982. He began his career practising civil and commercial litigation, both in regional firms and later with a leading Montreal law firm. In 1999, he joined the Association de la construction du Québec (ACQ) as Director of Legal and Government Affairs, before also serving as Corporate Secretary until 2024.

During more than 25 years with this federation representing nearly 20,000 members, Pierre built one of the largest and most respected legal affairs departments in Canada's construction industry. As legal counsel for the ACQ during the Charbonneau Commission, he collaborated with CIRANO to design and implement an integrity program for the construction industry that received international recognition, including distinctions from the United Nations, the Basel Institute on Governance, and Canadian Lawyer InHouse magazine through its INNOVATIO Award.

Known for his commitment and rigour, Pierre has participated in more than thirty parliamentary commissions, an achievement that led to his being recognized in 2020 as one of Canada's 25 Most Influential Lawyers. He also led a major governance reform within the construction industry.
