Violaine Des Roches is a strategic advisor to senior executives, specializing in governance, compliance, risk management, and business law. An experienced legal professional and accredited mediator, she advises public, private, and non-profit organizations on modernizing governance frameworks, strengthening compliance programs, and enhancing regulatory, ethical, and organizational practices.

Her strategic, rigorous, and pragmatic approach is grounded in more than 35 years of experience gained within financial institutions, banks, insurance companies, and regulatory organizations in Canada and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill University and is an accredited mediator with the Quebec Bar, specializing in civil, commercial, and labour matters. Violaine is widely recognized for her ability to navigate complex, high-stakes situations with sound judgment and discretion. Her mediation expertise further strengthens her work with boards of directors and executive leadership teams in governance, stakeholder management, and dispute resolution.

She has been recognized as a finalist for the Canadian General Counsel Awards and received a Gold Award from the International Legal Alliance Summit & Awards. Throughout her career, she has served on numerous boards of directors, audit committees, and independent review committees for investment funds.

Violaine has held several senior executive positions, most notably as Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary at Fiera Capital, where she was a member of the executive leadership team. In this role, she led complex governance, compliance, and organizational transformation initiatives, oversaw multidisciplinary international teams, and directed strategic transactions and partnerships.

She also served as Senior Director of Inspections at the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), where she led regulatory oversight and inspection activities across the securities, insurance, and mortgage brokerage sectors.

Today, Violaine serves as a trusted strategic advisor to boards of directors, legal and compliance functions, and senior executives facing complex strategic, regulatory, and organizational challenges. She also maintains an active practice as an accredited mediator, providing dispute resolution services through various professional organizations.
